The Braun Dinasty
In Magellan, Mr. and Mrs. Elías Braun received from the Chilean government a small plot of land, some animals and food for six months in exchange for settling in the zone.

In two decades the Braun family had gained control over nearly 1.376.160 hectares of land in the Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia.

On that land they raised 1.250.000 sheep that produced yearly 5.000 million kilograms of wool, 700 thousand kilograms of leather and 2.500.000 kilograms of meat.

The Braun properties included from the Chubut in Argentina to the Strait of Magellan.

The Braun also owned a mining company, banks, ships, insurance companies, telephone services, etc.

The Braun family from Magellan has descendants in both Chile and Argentina today.
